Overlay AI Advantage for Salesforce.

Ian H Smith

In this blog post I am talking about our Partner, Supercog, a West Coast US startup, focused on creating AI Agent Platforms to simplify and improve Salesforce environments. As illustrated below, this becomes what industry analyst Vernon Keenan describes as an Overlay AI1 to Salesforce.

As an Overlay AI to Salesforce, Supercog is distinctively different to Agentforce, which is an Embedded AI. The advantages with Supercog are: prebuilt Tools with a wide variety of apps that work with Salesforce; choice of Large Language Model (LLM); and, flexible business value pricing.

Success Stories

As my core focus at Being Guided, I work with Supercog to identify, engage and monetise early adopter customers within the vast and diverse Salesforce customer base. In recent months we have delivered the Supercog AI Agent Platform to the UK National Health Service (NHS), Europe's largest employer and Arts Care, a pioneer of social prescribing services in Northern Ireland.

For the NHS, Supercog has performed an AI Augmentation role as Copilot in designing and developing the native integrations between Salesforce (Apex Code, Lightning Web Components) and Electronic Health Record (EHR) and Patient Appointment Booking systems, including Health Level Seven (HL7) data exchange standards.

Our work with Arts Care and Supercog has resulted in the creation of automated Scheduling and Invoicing for a growing ecosystem of artists delivering social prescribing sessions to patients in both hospital and community settings throughout Northern Ireland. As with NHS, Supercog has acted in an AI Augmentation role as Copilot for creating Rules and Triggers related to Invoicing Cycles.

Ongoing Activities

My work with Supercog in UK and Europe is focused on working with Salesforce Partners who want to improve Salesforce implementations. This is where the prebuilt, multi-app Tools and flexible business pricing model of Supercog as an Overlay AI provides simpler, more cost-effective alternative to Agentforce, as an Embedded AI.

How It Works

Supercog AI Agents are semi-autonomous programs that follow simple English instructions. Each Agent is powered by a Large Language Model (LLM), which gives it the ability to understand language, make plans and execute tasks. This is explained in more detail below.

The Supercog AI Agent Platform consists of three elements: LLM Model; Agent Instructions; and, Tools. Here's brief explanation of how they come together in delivering an AI-powered Digital Transformation:

LLM Model
The LLM model is powering the Agent. You can choose amongst many different LLMs, including Google Gemini, GPT4o-mini and Anthropic Claude. Today, experience shows that GPT40-mini offers the lowest cost solution.

Agent Instructions
The Agent Instructions describe the work that you would like the Agent to perform. If you want to devote your Agent to a specific task, then you will want to explain that task in the Instructions.

Tools
You enable Agents to perform work by giving them Tools. Without any tools an Agent is limited to the capabilities of the underlying LLM. Templated Tools currently available are: Amazon S3; Atlassian Jira; Discord; DuckDB; GitHub; Google Calendar; Google Gmail; HubSpot; Hunter.io; REST API; SMS; Salesforce; ServiceNow; Slack; Snowflake; YouTube; and, Zapier.

So, as a first step on an AI-Powered Digital Innovation journey, let's begin by delivering Salesforce Optimisation. AI relies on clean data and a Salesforce Org is only ready for this when this has been undertaken in a structured, comprehensive way.

Working with our Salesforce Optimisation Guide, we work with you to connect Salesforce and .csv as a Supercog Tool, enabling a comprehensive data optimisation and cleaning process for your Salesforce Org. This has a structured 6-Phase approach comprising:

Phase 1: Initial Assessment and Planning
Phase 2: Duplicate Management
Phase 3: Field Cleanup
Phase 4: Data Standardisation
Phase 5: Technical Debt Reduction
Phase 6: Maintenance and Monitoring

Of course, Salesforce Optimisation is an ongoing process, not a one-time project. Regular maintenance and monitoring are essential for long-term success. So, we also are offering Managed Services per Engagement, in addition to Supercog Licences, as described below.

How You Pay

  • Supercog Licence. £25 per Salesforce Production Org User per Month. Subscription Fees paid annually in advance. Includes Support Services. Volume discounts apply.
  • Managed Services. £6,000. Delivering 6-Phases of Data Cleaning and Reports. Professional Services Fees per Engagement per Salesforce Production Org, paid in advance.
